{Mat 28:18-20 NKJV}
18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 “teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, [even] to the end of the age.” Amen.
There is a mystery here.
Jesus says all authority has been given to me.
Jesus and God the Father are one.
God is all powerful – authority over all creation.
How can Jesus be given authority?
Theologians can dissect and come up with theories.
TRUTH — Kingdom of God works according to God’s design.
There are mysteries there we only see as shadows.
The point – Jesus now has ALL authority in heaven and earth.
Greek – “my word is law.” “What I say, goes.”
He is the sheriff. “I’m deputizing you all.”
- Make disciples
- Baptize in the name of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- Teach them to observe (take care of) everything I commanded you.
Truth: The authority Jesus has over all things covers us who follow him.
Action: Take care of what he commanded: Let him love you. Then love other people like that.
We make disciples (followers) by being a disciple.
Listening to the Holy Spirit and letting him guide you.
