[Luk 9:1-2 CSB]
1 Summoning the Twelve, his disciples, he gave them power and authority over all the demons and to heal diseases.
2 Then he sent them to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.
Jesus was not a great teacher.
He hid his message in stories (parables) and offered no explanation to the masses.
He only explained the meaning and lessons to his 12 disciples.
Thousands of people followed Jesus because he healed the sick and cast out demons.
He commissioned his 12 disciples to go do the same.
“Proclaim the kingdom of God & heal the sick.”
Key – he gave them power & authority.
Illustration of these two words:
Think of Sickness & Demons as criminals.
Jesus – Sherriff
Deputizes disciples – authority
But also hands them a gun – power (to enforce the authority).
It’s not enough to have authority if you don’t have power.

Holy Spirit gives us power
Jesus made disciples by healing the sick and casting out demons.
Truth: The business we are to be doing is to heal the sick and cast out demons.
